I am of the idea to reduce of
disposal cost of e-waste from Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) through a
pre-disposal segregation both (on-site and offsite) and handling of recyclable
and non-recyclable materials with proper stabilization of hazardous substance
generated from the CFLs, nampely the mercury vapour.
The core elements in the process are:
a) Safe Crushing Process of CFLs
b) Segregation, Filtration and
Removal of Hazardous Vapour from Crushed Glasses
c) Stabilization of possible
Mercury Contamination in the output and by products
d) Simple recycling the crushed
glass into safe building/construction materials
I am looking into the best and
economical technology available to handle item (c) and (d). In addition, I am also seeking assistance in finding best solution in handling item (d) without re-melting the glass.
I am also pleased to explore any funding or grants in establishing the proposed waste reduction effort.
